My little man… my first born turned 9 years old yesterday.

What the?????

This makes me feel old.

In his honour here is an open letter to my son.

Dearest Ethan,

You are 9 years old – and I can honestly say that it feels like yesterday I was laying around like a gigantic whale waiting for your arrival. You were fashionable late -10 days over. I was so desperate to get you out I rocked up to my 40 week appointment at the hospital and demanded I be induced there and then. Ha!

Little did I know that they were happy to see me go upto 10 days past my due date. DID THEY NOT KNOW THAT EVERY DAY PAST YOUR DUE DATE = 1 week to a pregnant woman? You constantly think every 5 minutes past your due date when the hell is this baby going to get this party started? And being my first there was no other little people around to keep me busy while waiting…

Fast forward 9 years and here we are…

You are 9 and you are amazing.

You are our strong, consistent, dependable, compassionate and kind young man. I named you Ethan after Ethan in the bible…one of Davids mighty men…Ethan the Ezrahite wrote the Psalm 89;

“1 I will sing of the Lord’s unfailing love forever!

Young and old will hear of your faithfulness.

2 Your unfailing love will last forever.

Your faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens.

3 The Lord said, “I have made a covenant with David, my chosen servant.

I have sworn this oath to him:

4 ‘I will establish your descendants as kings forever;

they will sit on your throne from now until eternity.’” Interlude

5 All heaven will praise your great wonders, Lord;

myriads of angels will praise you for your faithfulness.

6 For who in all of heaven can compare with the Lord?

What mightiest angel is anything like the Lord?

7 The highest angelic powers stand in awe of God.

He is far more awesome than all who surround his throne.

8 O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies!

Where is there anyone as mighty as you, O Lord?

You are entirely faithful.”

and It goes on…

I still remember reading this Psalm over you in my pregnant belly – believing that God has great plans for you. Your name means “strong, consistent, solid and enduring” and you are growing into your namesake each day.

We are blessed to have you as our son and we want to wish you an amazing birthday and look forward to watch you mature into the amazing man you are destined to be.
Happy Birthday…

Mumma loves you…

This is me!

This Blog chronicles my journey through motherhood, initially starting out as a soapbox to scream to the world “yes you can have a natural birth after cesarean”! I started this blog not long after I gave birth to no.3 who was my first natural birth after having 2 after 2 cesarean sections. (VBA2C)

I’m fumbling through this season of Motherhood with barely enough sleep… sleep? Sleep is for the weak!

These are my times….

Welcome to The Motherhood Times.
