About Our Center

The Motherhood Center is more than a clinical treatment center. It is a mission-driven community committed to transforming the landscape of maternal mental health. Founded in 2017 with a vision to fill a critical gap in care, The Motherhood Center began with a single Day Program and a dedicated team of six. Today, we’ve grown to a multidisciplinary staff of over 50, providing both in-person and virtual services to mothers and birthing people across the full spectrum of the perinatal experience.

At our core, we believe that no one should suffer in silence during pregnancy or postpartum. Through our clinical care, advocacy, education, and training of future maternal mental health providers, we are raising awareness and reducing stigma around Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs), helping thousands of mothers and birthing people feel better, faster.

The Motherhood Center’s warm, inclusive environment reflects our commitment to “mother the mother,” with spaces that nurture, relationships that heal, and care that lasts a lifetime. We are proud to be a trusted home for expert perinatal mental health support, and we’re just getting started.

Dr. Catherine Birndorf’s Story

“The Motherhood Center just celebrated its seventh year! Established in 2017 with just six employees, we opened our doors to treat pregnant and postpartum women in our perinatal day program. Today, with more than 50 staff members and trainees, I am incredibly proud that despite the pandemic, The Motherhood Center has been able to expand care both in person and virtually to women suffering from Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs).”
