Whether you’re navigating complex symptoms, questioning a diagnosis, or weighing treatment options, including psychiatric medications during pregnancy or postpartum, our team of Reproductive Psychiatrists and Perinatal Mental Health Experts offers clear, evidence-based recommendations to guide your next steps.
This service is ideal for those looking for clarification, validation, or alternative perspectives from trusted clinical experts in the field of reproductive psychiatry.
Preconception Counseling
Preconception Counseling at The Motherhood Center supports individuals with personal or family mental health histories who are planning to grow their family. Whether you are currently on or have previously been on psychiatric medication or have experienced anxiety, depression, trauma, or other PMADs, our Reproductive Psychiatrists offer comprehensive consultations to help you prepare emotionally and physically for pregnancy.
Together, we will evaluate your current mental health needs, assess the risks and benefits related to medication, and create a personalized plan to optimize your wellness before conception. Our goal is to help you enter pregnancy with clarity, confidence, and support.

Treatment FAQs
- 01
How do I know which treatment method is right for me?
The first step is to call our office at 212-335-0034 or complete a new patient inquiry form. From there, one of our experienced treatment providers will contact you to conduct a 90-minute evaluation to determine the best course of treatment to help you feel better. - 02
Do you offer other treatment services?
Yes! Our virtual support groups are a great option for those seeking extra support; however, they are not clinical treatment. Our other clinical treatment option is our Day Program, a more intensive treatment service for those in need. - 03
Do you accept insurance?
The Motherhood Center is an out-of-network outpatient provider, which means we are not considered to be in-network with health insurance carriers. However, most insurance plans offer some reimbursement for treatment which we will help you determine. We offer courtesy billing – which means we will submit your claims on your behalf to your insurance carrier for reimbursement. We also offer some sliding scale fees for patients that are experiencing financial hardship.
